Plains Cotton Cooperative Association’s (PCCA) vice president of marketing, Lonnie Winters, will assume the duties of interim president and chief executive officer on March 1.

Winters will replace Wally Darneille, who is retiring. Winters has worked in marketing at PCCA since 1993 and was promoted to vice president of marketing in 2004. He has spent his entire career in the cotton industry, said a PCCA press release.

PCCA Chairman Eddie Smith said Winters is highly respected within the industry.

“He is a strong, coop-minded leader, and PCCA will be in good hands while our board conducts its search for a new president and CEO,” said chairman Smith.

The Plains Cotton Cooperative Association serves 15,000 members in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and New Mexico.
