On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, state representative Charles Perry said he doesn’t expect the campus carry bill will be considered during the special session of the legislature, and he suggested that a possible presidential bid by Governor Rick Perry is the reason.

“I don’t think you’re going to see that (campus carry) come back,” Rep. Perry said.  “I think it’s got enough political pros and cons on both sides of the equation that someone that’s looking past governor probably wouldn’t want to bring that up in a special session.

Rep. Perry was asked if he thinks  Governor Perry is only bringing up issues that would help him in a presidential bid.

“I think so,” Rep.  Perry said.

Rep.  Perry said the governor is taking care of the state’s business , but…

“I do think what he brings back in a special session is indicative of where he thinks that may be in a national platform.”
