A man who pleaded guilty to the murder of a homeless Lubbock man will now spend 50 years in prison after a sentencing trial yesterday. Eric Perez confessed to stabbing 40-year-old Danny Brazeal to death at the Lubbock Civic Center in 2010.

Yesterday he pleaded guilty to murder, waving his right to trial and receiving his sentence outright. Perez told police he and Brazeal drank whiskey and prayed before Perez stabbed him to death. Perez will be eligible for parole after serving half of his term.
