Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By Semi on West Loop 289

A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a semi on West Loop 289 Monday morning.

The pedestrian was hit by the truck while crossing the westbound main lanes of Loop 289 near the 50^th Street intersection around 9:45 a.m. Monday.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

Lubbock Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.

West Loop 289 traffic was diverted onto Spur 327 for several hours while police investigated the scene.
