Friday on The Chad Hasty Show, Patrick Svitek from the Texas Tribune joined the show to discuss current events in the 85th Texas Legislature.

Svitek provided an update on the latest on the Ken Paxton trial and it's many schedule and venue changes, then discussed Governor Abbott's push in the Texas Legislature for high quality pre-K funding in Texas.

"I think this is kind of a legacy item for him, it's something he's willing to fight for. And so far it's not worked out well this legislative session," Svitek said.

Hasty and Svitek also discussed the ongoing conflict and controversies between Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Speaker of the House Joe Straus, the status of the "bathroom bill", and what to expect this week from the 85th session.
