The Texas Tech Red Raiders had someone rooting for them all the way from the Paris of the Plains.

Even though Patrick Mahomes is now a Kansas City Chief, he's still a Red Raider at heart. The up-and-coming NFL quarterback was watching his former team face off against Oklahoma State in their first conference game of the 2017 season.

Following Texas Tech's close loss to the Pokes, Mahomes tweeted out that he was proud of the team for fighting to the last play.

He also wasn't too happy with some of the playcalling. (Spoiler: Neither were many in the sold-out crowd, which was the fifth largest attendance in Jones AT&T Stadium's history, according to Texas Tech Athletics.)

Mahomes was drafted 10th overall in April by the Kansas City Chiefs.
