Patrick Mahomes Just Threw a Football Nearly as Fast as You Can Drive on The Loop

When I saw this video, I thought they had Derek Carr, fresh off his broken leg, throwing against Patrick Mahomes. But I quickly figured out it was Derek’s older brother, David Carr. The elder Carr was drafted and played several seasons for the Houston Texans.

In the clip below, the former Texas Tech quarterback and possible 1st round pick overall in the NFL Draft, faces off in three rounds (plus a warmup) against Carr. And let’s just say Mahomes brought the heat.

Before registering a 50 mph throw in his warm-up, Mahomes unleashed back-to-back 58 mph throws. Mahomes predicted his last throw would be 60 mph. Then, he topped it.

For reference: the speed limit on Lubbock’s Loop 289 is 65 mph. Mahomes came up just shy.

Incredible.
