Bidders have begun submitting proposals for a 10-year government contract to operate and manage the a Texas panhandle power plant along with two other facilities.

The proposal would give the operator rights to manage the Pantex plant and the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The contract would consist of a five-year base term, with three optional 5-year renewal opportunities. It would also offer the option to incorporate a South Carolina facility. Right now the facilities are on three separate contracts. Babcock & Wilson, owners of the three current contracts, will bid on the contract. Proposals are due March 13th.
