Orlando’s Restaurant Celebrates 47th Anniversary, Announces Scholarship
A local restaurant is celebrating its 47th anniversary.
According to a post on Facebook, David Cea says that 47 years ago on October 15th, his parents opened the Orlando’s restaurant on Avenue Q in an empty Preston Milk store.
Cea elaborated, saying that his parents opened the establishment with $1,500 cash, and his dad ran the kitchen, while his mother ran the front and did the books.
He says that they are not having a party this year commemorating the occasion, but will hold a celebration in 2015 for their 50th anniversary.
In honor of the occasion, the group has endowed a scholarship to the Texas Tech Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management program.
