On Thursday's edition of Lubbock's First News Dr. John Thomas, founder of Operation Hope, talked with Chad and Rex about his organization.

Operation Hope is an organization that provides medical services and community programs to impoverished countries around the world. On May 12th, Dr. Thomas will be receiving the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in recognition of his efforts with Operation Hope and going "above and beyond" what he was called to do.

"Opportunity was given to me in America...a family that's intact, a scocial structure of guidance and discipline, and hard work is what's gotten me here."

Dr. Thomas said that, in 20 years, he sees his organization acting as the hands and feet of Christ, and that he would like to do more community projects to serve the "working poor" of West Texas.
