One Dead in Wednesday Morning Wreck in South Lubbock
One person is dead following a wreck in south Lubbock on Wednesday morning.
Joseph Sneed was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound along 98th Street near Knoxville Avenue just before 10:30 a.m., when the vehicle crossed the westbound lanes, and collided with a concrete wall and fence.
The front passenger of the vehicle, 28-year-old Eduviges Armando Payan, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to Lubbock Police.
The 32-year-old Sneed, along with 24-year-old backseat passenger Joey Gonzales, were taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Sneed was wearing a seatbelt, and Gonzales was not.
It is currently unknown why the vehicle veered into the fence. Lubbock Police also say that it is currently unknown if alcohol and drugs were a factor in the wreck.
