An accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian claimed the life of one in the evening hours of Monday, November 9.

Lubbock Police was called to the scene of the crash along the access road in the 500 block of North Loop 289 around 6:45 p.m.

Law enforcement initially reported the struck pedestrian, Jonah Rodriguez (20), was rushed to UMC with critical injuries, but he was later pronounced dead.

According to first responders on the scene, the driver of the vehicle did stop following the accident. It's still unclear if charges against the driver will be filed.

The accident remains under investigation.
