One person was jailed following a six-car accident that occurred just before 9:30 p.m. in Lubbock on Monday, July 4.

The crash occurred on northbound I-27 just before the Marsha Sharp exit.

Lubbock police say a man in a red pick-up truck caused the accident crashing in to a string of 5 different vehicles.

EMS told KAMC News at least four ambulances were called to the scene, and three victims were transported to UMC with one sustaining serious injuries.

LPD believe the driver of the red pick-up truck was the same man who had evaded police in a high-speed chase earlier that day. The suspect attempted to flee the scene of the crash on foot, but was picked up by a K9 unit who happened to be working nearby.

The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Eloy Salas.

Salas is being charged with aggravated assault - bodily injury with a deadly weapon, evading in a vehicle, interference with a police animal - injury, evading arrested/detention, resisting arrest and a violation of parole.
