AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Austin Police have shot and killed a suspect at a posh downtown hotel who they say fatally shot a guest in the lobby.

The Austin American Statesman reports that the shootings occurred early Sunday at the Omni Austin Hotel, about four blocks from the state Capitol.

The hotel referred media inquiries to Austin police. But the department did not immediately return calls seeking additional information.

The Statesman said police had confirmed two deaths, but were still at the hotel, interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.
