Teen Girl Shot & Killed in Oklahoma City on New Year’s Day

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The new year was about one hour old when Oklahoma City police say the first shooting death of the year occurred.

Police told reporters that 17-year-old Rashya Long died about 1 a.m. New Year's Day after being shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the city's northwest side. Police say there have been no arrests as of Friday morning.

Police say the shooting came after a fight broke out during a party at the apartment complex. Lt. Jeff Spruill said it wasn't immediately clear whether the girl was involved in the fight or was a bystander.
