Occupy Dallas Protesters Arrested

DALLAS (AP) — Police have evicted all protesters at the Occupy Dallas campsite in a public safety sweep that led to 18 arrests.

Police early Thursday cleared people from the site near city hall, a day after Dallas leaders told the 40 or so demonstrators they could stay if they obeyed all laws.

Nobody was hurt. Authorities say those being arrested acted peacefully.

City officials last week warned protesters to stick to an Oct. 17 agreement that allowed the campsite on public property.

Concerns were raised over increased trash, trespassing arrests and the safety of children at the site. A federal judge Tuesday refused to issue an order that would have blocked removal of the campsite.

A city statement Thursday cited increased violations of the agreement, plus public health and safety concerns
