One man has been charged with attempted capital murder after reportedly beating two women and taking aim at an officer.

Lubbock Police were called to the 3300 block of Duke Street in north Lubbock at around 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 17th after receiving reports that a man with a gun was threatening residents in the area.

According to Lubbock Police, when Officer Daniel Merritt arrived, 33-year-old Daniel Moreno reportedly raised a gun and aimed it at Merritt.

The officer fired at Moreno and wounded him.

Just moments later, officers found two female victims that they originally believed were shot by Moreno.
