On Thursday's edition of Lubbock's First News Baron Batch, former Texas Tech football player and current running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about some of his artistic endeavors.

Many people know Baron Batch for his success in both college and professional football. However, he is also a talented artist as well as a talented athlete. Batch suffered from a torn ACL and several broken bones during his first season with the Steelers. But during his rehab, he was able to get back into a longtime hobby: painting.

"I was always an artistic kid...I would always have a pencil scribbling on walls or whatever sheets of paper I could find just because, you know, art gets expensive to buy paints and stuff. So as I got older, I  kind of quit drawing, just kind of really didn't keep up with that. Then about a year ago as I was rehabing my knee, I was back up in Pittsburgh and had a lot of time on my hands and a lot of blank walls. So, out of that, I kind of started pairing and it was nice to actually be able to buy paint."

Baron Batch will be the featured artist at this year's ARTS festival in Lubbock. Baron will also be on site at the ARTS festival on Friday between 3 PM to 8 PM and and on Saturday between 10 AM and 8 PM.
