Last night I took my fiancée to Manna Bread and Wine here in Lubbock for Valentine's Day. It's one of our favorite places to eat and I'd recommend it to anyone. Having been there before, and knowing that February 14th was going to be busy, I called a few weeks prior to make reservations. I'm glad I did.

Guys, I know Valentine's Day isn't high up on your list. You've got a lot to worry about without a Hallmark holiday being thrown into the mix. We all know, even you ladies know, that Valentine's Day is completely corporate and really isn't a holiday.

However, it's still an important day for most women. There are about 4 things that go hand in hand with Valentine's Day. Flowers(roses), chocolate, jewelry, and going out to eat. Yes, the flowers and candy are both overpriced, but if that's the cost of love, then that's the cost of love.

As for dining out and my original topic, make reservations. Last night, restaurants all over had waits of 45 minutes to an hour or more. Most of those places were chain restaurants that want to get you in and out as fast as possible. Manna, and other places like it, don't operate the same way. It took about an hour and a half to make it through our meal. That translates into a long wait for the individuals who didn't make reservations.

There were many who showed up last night where we were who did not plan ahead, and they were told the wait was 2 hours. Ouch. The worse part of it was that the women whose dates did not make reservations, didn't look too happy. Unless you made reservations for last night, you were stuck waiting. Next time, make reservations or just stay home and cook her dinner. It will probably be better that way and work out for you much better.
