The area’s humane society is taking around 200 dogs from a South Plains kennel.

Almost 200 dogs are being removed from AlphaTex Kennels, located between Plainview and Lockney, according to the Plainview Daily Herald.

The owner is cooperating, and said the entire situation occurred because someone took a picture of an injured puppy that was being treated at the facility. Upon investigation, the Humane Society of West Texas deemed that the kennel had too many dogs.

The Humane Society of West Texas is searching for homes for these dogs to stay at for a short time. Anyone interested in providing a temporary home for one of these confiscated canines is asked to call 806-466-6644.
