A new event is coming to Lubbock next month honoring the music of the South Plains.

The first ever Lubbock Lights: Celebrating the Musical Heritage of the South Plains event will take place the second week of April in the Allen Theatre at the Student Union Building on the Texas Tech campus.

Honorees include Wade Bowen, Butch Hancock of The Flatlanders, Teri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines of The Maines Brothers Band.

Tickets cost $18 and can be purchased through Lubbock Select-a-Seat.

Doors for the Thursday, April 9, concert will open at 6:30 p.m.; a CD signing will follow.
