Much Needed Rain Comes to Lubbock and the South Plains

Friday morning, some much-needed rain came to Lubbock and the South Plains.

As of 8:30a on Friday, here are some regional rainfall totals: 1.29” inches of rain here at the KFYO Studios. 1.1“ inches at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport.

From the Texas Tech Mesonet: 0.89" of rain in Abernathy, 0.82" in Plainview, 0.67" in Anton, 1.34" inches of rain in Floydada, 2.5" inches in Ralls, 1.4" in Slaton, 0.4" in Morton and 0.2"  in Tahoka.  There’s also a slight chance of severe weather today in the western counties of the South Plains.

The rain is slated to stay in the area for the Memorial Day weekend.
