A bakery that has been a fixture in Lubbock is closing its doors after almost 70 years of business. Mrs. Camp’s Bakery will begin a liquidation sale next week to get rid of any remaining inventory and fixtures.

Owner Tim Scarborough told KAMC 28 that the cost of ingredients has almost tripled, making the business too expensive to keep on its feet. An explosion last December destroyed part of the bakery, sending four to the hospital. Scarborough says between the required repairs and upkeep costs, the bakery simply can’t cut its losses.

Among items to be sold in the liquidation sale are cake pans, restaurant equipment, and mixers.
