The U.S. House will consider a bill Tuesday which would designate a central Lubbock post office to permanently honor a local fallen soldier.

The Monterey Station Post Office, located at 5014 Gary Avenue could soon be the “Sergeant Chris Davis Post Office.”

The station would be named for 35-year-old Sergeant Chris Davis, a soldier who was killed in combat on June 23rd, 2007 in Baghdad. Davis was killed during an insurgent attack on his unit with an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.

His wife and two children reside in Georgia.
