MLK Commemorative Council of Lubbock Announces Martin Luther King Jr. Day Events

A local organization has announced their schedule for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The MLK Commemorative Council of Lubbock has invited the public to their upcoming celebration events.

The events will kick off on Friday, January 17^th with the Individuals of Distinction Awards Banquet. The banquet will kick off at 7 p.m. at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, and the keynote speaker will be Donna Smith, wife of Texas Tech Head Basketball Coach Tubby Smith. Tickets are $30 per person.

On Saturday, January 18^th, a youth night will be held at Dunbar College Preparatory Academy at 6:30 p.m. Dunbar is located at 2010 East 26^th Street.

On Sunday, January 19^th, a Citywide Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Guest Speaker will be Reverend T.J. Patterson, Jr., son of former Lubbock City Councilman T.J. Patterson.

Finally, on Monday, January 20^th, a Gospel Night will be held at the Greater St. James Baptist Church, located at East Loop 289 and Idalou Road. That event will begin at 6:30 p.m.
