Portions of a street in southwest Lubbock will close for widening.

Milwaukee Avenue between 94th Street and 106th Street will close beginning on Monday, February 18th for the widening of Milwaukee between 94th and 114th Streets.

Also, 98th Street between Huron Avenue to just west of Milwaukee Avenue will be closed for the widening work as well.

The closures are expected to last 8 to 10 months while the roadway is raised and the new concrete pavement is constructed, according to a press release from the City of Lubbock.

Traffic will be able to access the nearby neighborhoods from 114th Street. Milwaukee Avenue traffic will detour to Frankford Avenue, and 98th Street traffic will use either 82nd Street or 114th Street.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
