Midland Resident Daniel Pennell Dies in Thursday Evening Wreck

A Midland man is dead following a wreck on Highway 87 early Thursday evening.

Daniel Pennell was driving north on US 87 when he crossed the median of the highway, and rolled down the embankment into oncoming traffic.

A semi hit Pennell’s pickup truck on the driver’s side, just 200 feet south of the Tahoka city limits around 6:06 p.m. Thursday.

DPS reports that Pennell was pronounced dead when officers arrived on the scene just a few minutes later.

The driver of the semi was unharmed.

Authorities are still investigating circumstances surrounding the crash.
