The Lubbock Police Department in conjunction with the Midland Police Department arrested a man suspected of beating a Lubbock woman’s head, causing life-threatening injuries.

The assault occurred late in the evening on Sunday, April 26, when Brandi Aguilera, 38, was assaulted outside of her home in the 3200 block of 62nd St. According to a police report, she was struck on the head by an unknown object and her phone was stolen. Aguilera was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She remains hospitalized.

Detectives were able to gather enough evidence to receive a probable cause affidavit for the arrest of Aguilera’s ex-husband Jonathan Ruben Aguilera, 29.

Lubbock police reported Midland police were able to arrest Jonathan Aguilera Tuesday evening. Aguilera remains in the Midland County jail Wednesday evening, but faces extradition to Lubbock.

Bail information and representation for Aguilera has not been listed.
