On Friday's edition of Lubbock's First News, Paul Bonaggrio from Messina-Hof Winery & Resort talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about an upcoming fundraiser in Plainview.

Messina-Hof has been operating in the Houston area for over 30 years. Bonaggrio said that the dry climate, weather and soil of Texas is perfect for growing grapes, particularly in West Texas. He added that many farmers are now looking at grapes as an alternative crop to cotton, especially since grapes require much less water to grown that cotton.

Messina-Hof Winery will be hosting a wine tasting event in Plainview on Saturday, February 9th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Centennial Bank. Proceeds from the event benefits the Plainview chapter of Soroptimist International. For tickets, contact Janice Posey at 806-293-2094, or E-mail her at janiceposey@gmail.com
