We all know the name Alan Bowman now, but who is he? Freshmen aren't allowed to talk to the media at Texas Tech, so I did a little bit of digging to find out more about just who is the True Freshman leading this football team.

1) He started as a freshman in high school, and had the MaxPreps Top Play

This is some next level play-action fakes, and it probably needs to be added to the Texas Tech playbook ASAP.

Bowman would finish his high school career with more than 11,000 yards and 119 touchdowns in four seasons. Eighty of those touchdowns came in 2016 and 2017.

2) He has his own Bowman Bobblehead

He got it after being named the Week 7 MVP his Junior Season at Grapevine.

3) He's a Heisman candidate after just three career starts

Seriously, check it out. It's because he's leading the nation in yards per game and has a 72 percent completion percentage, which is top 10 in the nation. No, a true freshman has never won the Heisman and this is totally jumping the gun, but it doesn't change the fact that Bowman is getting nationally recognized early in his career.

4) He's used to breaking losing streaks

Alan Bowman led the Red Raiders to their first win in Stillwater since 2001, but that mentality didn't just show up. Bowman cultivated it by breaking losing streaks in rivalry games in high school. Bowman credits his coach telling him, "We gotta win this play." He also took his team to Dave and Buster's to get their mojo back after a loss, which is awesome.

5) Bowman doesn't tie his cleats

I don't know why. It's comfortable? You can clearly see his laces flopping in this pic.

6) He's got a great nickname

7) Bowman is used to big games

Here's his team getting ready for the DQ Game of the Week in his senior year. No, he didn't win this game, but it isn't a new phenomenon for him. He played in an NFL stadium against Ole Miss. He beat Houston at home. He played in a hostile environment in Stillwater.

Bonus highlight of the video below is Red Raider Myller Royals catching passes for the opposing team.
