Mayor Tom Martin Says Letter From Feds Is Ludricrous

In March, KFYO reported about a letter that Mayor Tom Martin received from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.  HUD was concerned about some unspent grant money intended to help the homeless.  The message to the city:  hurry up and spend the money.  Fast forward to this month, and the mayor is standing by his previous statement that, right now, the city doesn’t need the money:

“That’s so ludicrous.  I can’t think of anything that’s more

ludicrous that I’ve seen in government.  They say, ‘You got to spend it.’  No, we don’t have to spend it on anything.”

Martin says he has not received any more letters from HUD regarding the unspent funds.
