Last week, the Lubbock city council  approved the 2013 budget.  In an interview with KFYO, Mayor Glen Robertson talked about items that will have to wait for at least another year because there wasn’t enough money.

“Number one is increase in maintenance on streets.  We try to do maintenance on streets about every 12-15 years.  We need to be doing it every 10 years.  If we did that, we wouldn’t end up with [situations like] 34th Street, where we’re spending millions and millions of dollars. We’d keep up  the maintenance.

“We need more to go against our deferred maintenance on our facilities. It’s just not there.  The money is not there to get.”
