Friday on The Chad Hasty Show, Lubbock's Mayor Dan Pope joined Chad in the KFYO studio to discuss issues facing the city. Several topics were in the conversation including the recent press conference about relations between citizens and law enforcement, town-hall meetings that are being planned, as well as taxes and the city budget.

While speaking about the state of the Lubbock Police Department's staffing and hiring levels, Pope said, "We're as close as we've been in many, many years to being full staffed, within twenty of being fully staffed."

During the conversation about city taxes and the budget, Pope said,

I think there's good news in the budget, let's start with that. I think the good news is that the proposed budget does not include a tax increase. I don't think there's any stomach for a tax increase. I think property taxes are going to stay the same. That will be the first time in three years that's happened. That's something we want to accomplish.
