Monday on the Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak discussed the upcoming elections and necessities of fundraising.

Mackowiak suggested that because Texas is generally a Republican state, the primaries on March 4 would be more important than the general elections. He noted the importance of balancing fundraising and publicity events for candidates. He focused on the necessity of increasing name ID. He said, "making sure that you have name ID that's strong enough that you can  be competitive is job number one." He listed ways to do so: free media (which can be more difficult), traditional media (which can get expensive).

Mackowiak commented on other Texas races. He said he will be focusing on what will happen to seats in the Senate and whether Republicans will obtain the majority there.Get more details and other Texas political stories from Must Read Texas.
