On the Monday edition of the Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak discussed major Texas political issues.

Mackowiak noted that after the primaries, there may be chances of some candidates entering a runoff. However, he also noted there will be a much lower turnout for the runoff than there is in the primaries. He said, "Once you get into a runoff, it's a totally different race. You both start at zero." He made suggestions for candidates on planning how to campaign for a runoff, since the audience changes at that point.

Mackowiak also observed Ken Paxton's use of Senator Ted Cruz's positive comments about him. Although Cruz has not offered a full endoresment, Paxton used the positive comments in his television advertisement to gain support of voters.
