Monday on the Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak made observations about the 2014 election races.

Mackowiak suggested that in major races, not much is changing. He said, "You basically now have Democratic candidates for most of the major offices. You've got active Republican primaries for all the major offices, as well." He noted that Governor Perry is making campaign moves, potentially for presidential candidacy. He also suggested watching the primaries for seats that will come up in Congress.

In response to a question about the tension between the tea partiers and mainstream Republicans, Mackowiak believes the conflict is not as pronounced on state level as the national, because more offices are controlled by Republicans and all seem to be generally accepting of the direction in which the state is headed. Mackowiak also commented on the unlikelihood that Tarrant County will turn blue.
