Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, political strategist Matt Mackowiak joined the show to talk about the latest in political news, which continues to center on the Republican race for the party's nomination for President.

Mackowiak and Hasty talked about the likelihood of the GOP holding an open, or contested convention. On that subject, Mackowiak said:

I think we are headed towards an open convention where Trump does not get the majority and does not win on the first ballot. In that circumstance, I think there is a very high probability that Cruz wins, particularly if he can win it on the second, third and fourth ballot.

Mackowiak provided details and shared his opinion on whether or not there is a chance that the Republican nominee will be anyone other than Donald Trump, Ted Cruz or John Kasich. Also included in the conversation was the Democratic contest between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Mackowiak and Hasty also discussed news breaking during the show that the Supreme Court has rejected the state's position in the challenge to Texas congressional districts being proportioned on voter age versus population.
