Mary Jane Buerkle of Plains Cotton Growers visited with Tom Collins and Laura Mac on Lubbock's First News about the 2014 Cotton Harvest.

Buerkle said the recent rains have affected this year's harvest.

"What we do need  over the next few weeks is  good open weather," she said. "A single rain event won't be too decremental, an extended rain event  could push harvest back even further and  you could be looking  at possibly some quality issues.

Buerkle also  reminded producers and others that there are several meetings centering around the Farm Bill scheduled around the area. The meeting sponsored by the Agrilife Extension Service and Plains Cotton Growers are  listed on the PCG web site, www.plainscotton.org.
