Marty Rowley Files to Run for State Board of Education

Amarillo attorney Marty Rowley today officially kicked off his campaign for Texas State Board of Education District 15. Rowley will run in the Republican Primary for District 15.

“As a certified, professional mediator, I believe I have the unique ability to bring people together towards a beneficial resolution. As a concerned parent and citizen, I can directly relate to the millions of parents whose children’s futures depend upon the Texas public school system,” Rowley said during his announcement.

Texas State Board of Education District 15 is comprised of 77 counties across the South Plains, Panhandle, Permian Basin and Texoma regions.  District 15 includes the cities of Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland (but not Odessa), Vernon, Abilene, Big Spring and Wichita Falls.

“Within those 77 counties are hundreds of school districts and campuses, thousands of teachers, and hundreds of thousands of Texas school children, who deserve a strong advocate fighting for their interests on the State Board of Education,” Rowley said. “So do the taxpayers who pay for our public school system. They too deserve a strong conservative voice that will fight for more local control, less bureaucracy and red tape, and for more accountability for our public schools,” Rowley added.

District 15 is currently held by Republican Bob Craig, who is not running for reelection.

As of right now, there is one other announced candidate for SBOE District 15 in next year's Republican Primary: Anette Carlisle, also of Amarillo.
