Today, at the 50 Yard Line Restaurant, KFYO News caught up with Marty Rowley, who is running in the Republican Primary for Texas State Board of Education District 15. His opponent is Annette Carlisle and they are vying to replace Bob Craig who isn't running for re-election.

SBOE District 15 is largest SBOE district in terms of area, it covers 77 counties in the Panhandle, South Plains, Permian Basin and Texoma regions.

Rowley discussed what he thinks separates himself from his opponent, "I'm a fiscal and social conservative. I'm a Right to Life candidate.  I believe in our founding fathers and the documents (Constitution, etc), Judeo-Christian principles being shown in our social studies curriculum. I believe in teaching both Intelligent Design and Evolution as part of our science curriculum."

Rowley also gave his thoughts on the new STARR testing for Texas High School students, "I think a level of accountability is good. I think that most educators that you talked to agree with that, but the problem is that I think we're over-burdening our teachers and over-burdening our classes with too much testing."

The Texas Primaries are on May 29th and we'll have complete coverage on KFYO.
