The man suspected of robbing a northwest Lubbock grocery store and assaulting an officer has turned himself in to police.

17-year-old Lorenzo Flores surrendered himself at the Lubbock Police Department Wednesday morning, following his identification from surveillance photos.

Flores has been charged with robbery, after reportedly trying to walk out of the United Supermarket at 4th and Slide with a soda which he did not purchase on June 29th.

DPS Trooper Katrina Jones, who was off-duty and working as a security guard for the store that evening, attempted to stop Flores. He is believed to have thrown the soda can at her, hitting Jones in the face and injuring her.

So far, Flores has been charged with robbery and is being held in the Lubbock County Jail.
