One person is in the hospital and another is in police custody after a Friday morning shooting in Lubbock.

Lubbock Police were called to the 1100 block of 18th Street at 12:15 a.m. Friday, after a person contacted police and said that he had been shot twice.

Officers found the victim, 24-year-old Joseph Pete Castner, in front of Kong’s Bar at 17th Street and Texas Avenue. Castner had suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and one to the shoulder.

Police located the suspect, 24-year-old Heriberto Gayton, in the 1000 block of 18th street a short time later.

The shooting reportedly arose from an argument between the two men.

Castner was taken to University Medical Center. His condition is currently unknown.

Gayton was arrested and taken to the Lubbock County Jail. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
