This morning (Nov. 24), Lubbock Police have arrested a man that led police on a vehicle chase and foot chase.

Lubbock Police received reports of multiple vehicle burglaries in the area between 19th Street to Erskine Street and Chicago Avenue to Milwaukee Avenue. Officers spoke with a victim of one of the burglaries and described the vehicle as a jeep.

Later, an officer tried to pull over the jeep, but it started to speed away. After a brief chase, the jeep crashed at the corner of 1st Place and Chicago Avenue. The driver, 31 year-old Guadalupe Vargas, fled the vehicle and led police on a foot chase.

After a brief foot chase, police arrested Vargas and booked him into the Lubbock County Detention Center. Vargas has been charged with Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Evading on Foot, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Marijuana. Vargas also had three warrants, one probation warrant, one parole warrant, and one outstanding warrant.

Police have not determined if Vargas is tied to any of the burglaries.
