A Brownwood man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for enticing a minor for sexual activity.

Luis Gerardo Alvarado was sentenced Thursday morning to 135 months in federal prison following his September 2013 guilty plea to one count of enticement of a minor and aiding and abetting.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the 22-year-old Alvarado met a minor female, who lived in Coleman County, Texas, by contacting her through Facebook chat.

From mid-March 2013 through April 9th, 2013, Alvarado attempted to persuade the girl to engage in sexual activity with him, while knowing that she was under 17 years of age.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s ICE Homeland Security Investigations, the Coleman Police Department, Santa Anna Police Department, and the Brownwood Police Department.
