Lubbock’s Citizens Tower Is Just a Shell of What It Once Was [Photos]

Lubbock's Citizens Tower, the building that will one day be home to City Hall and other departments is just a shell of what it once was. The renovation and reconstruction of Citizens Tower is supposed to come in at around $63 million dollars. That cost is supposed to include construction, technology, and the cost of purchasing other buildings.

The City of Lubbock purchased the building in 2014 for $1 million dollars when it was called the Omni Building. At the time the Omni Building had a marble exterior that was crumbling and posed a safety to the surrounding area.

As you can see in the above picture, the parking garage still stands at Citizens Tower but it will eventually be torn down. Citizens Tower is expected to be open to the public in 2019.

This past Saturday, someone may have been trying to get a sneak peek at Lubbock's future building as a gate was open at the entrance of the construction site. By the way, there are signs warning of "No Trespassing" around the construction site, so it's probably not a good idea to go and explore.
