Lubbock Teenager Wanted in Connection With Fatal Accident in New Mexico Turns Himself In

The Lubbock teenager allegedly behind the wheel of a vehicle involved in a fatal accident in Portales, New Mexico, turned himself into Lubbock Police on Wednesday.

Portales Police allege that 18-year-old Jerry Nale, of Lubbock, was involved in the fatal crash on March 29, 2016.

Nale was seriously injured in the accident which claimed the life of one his passengers, 16-year-old Trinity Jackson. Jackson's 14-year-old brother was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Nale has been charged with a variety of offenses including: Aggravated Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer and Homicide by Motor Vehicle.

Back on March 31, the Portales News-Tribune reported that Portales Police say officers were dispatched in the early morning hours of March 29 after reports of a suspicious vehicle in an alleyway. When officers arrived, the vehicle fled, leading to a brief pursuit that ended in a one-vehicle crash.

At the time of the accident, the vehicle was reported as stolen out of Lubbock and the two juveniles were listed as runaways.

Nale is currently in custody at the Lubbock County Jail. He will be arraigned and then face extradition to New Mexico to face the charges against him.
