During winter storms, people in Lubbock regularly ask 'where are the snow plows?' Here's the answer.

Rob Breaux, a writer for radio station 1340 The Fan, sent us this short video of a snow plow spotted at 19th and The Loop.

According to Lubbock officials, the city purchased at least two snow plows before this weekend's blizzard hit.

The reason residents might not see snow plows in Lubbock has to do with their priorities.

Lubbock snow plows' primary focus is to clear areas surrounding hospitals like UMC and other medical facilities. In addition, they plow ahead of first responders to prevent them from getting stuck. Major roadways are the next concern.

So the next time you wonder where the few Lubbock snow plows are during a snowstorm and why they haven't plowed your street, know that they're probably focusing on specific parts of the city that, if unplowed, could prevent people from getting emergency medical treatment.

Oh, and Lubbock is kind of big, too.
