The Salvation Army of Lubbock is preparing to serve a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to over 400 individuals in need from the Lubbock community. The meal will take place on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Salvation Army Family Housing Facility and Emergency Shelter at 17th and Avenue J.

Volunteers are expected to arrive at 9 a.m. for meal preparation and the invocation beginning at 11. Sheryl Swoopes will be among the volunteers at the shelter.

The Salvation Army also plans to serve Christmas dinner and provide food boxes to individuals in need during Christmas. Nearly 2,000 families will receive Christmas boxes provided by the Salvation Army from South Plains Food Bank.
