Lubbock has placed well in a ranking of college destinations.

The American Institute for Economic Research has ranked Lubbock as 11th in their ranking of the best small city college destinations for the 2012-2013 academic year.

“At a time when approximately half of current college graduates are unemployed or underemployed, the pros and cons of a particular college destination should be an important factor in making a college selection,” said Julie Zhu, the AIER research analyst who oversaw the compilation of the index.

The group considers 12 factors using data from the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Housing and Urban Development and more, to consider the community’s overall academic and cultural environment, quality of life, and employment opportunities.
