This October, the City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department will host the 6th annual Lubbock Pumpkin Trail and are currently accepting jack-o-lantern donations.

The Pumpkin Trail is a family friendly event and will feature an expected 2,000 carved jack-o-lanterns that will be lit up each evening from 5:30-9 p.m. There will also be 40 displays hosted by local businesses and civic groups. Amber Wilson with Hodges Community Center said the event is a great chance for families to interact with the community.

"Pumpkin Trail is an event held at the arboretum in October." said Wilson "It is a good event for families to come and see what is going on in the community. Its also a good chance to look at the pumpkins and to bring their own."

The event will occur daily from October 16-19 at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum located within Clapp Park. Entrances to the trail are located at the Arboretum and the Lubbock Municipal Garden and Arts Center.

Donations are currently being accepted by Pumpkin Central, more commonly known as Hodges Community Center. They are requesting that pumpkins not be carved until October 13 to mitigate rot. To donate a pumpkin or jack-o-lantern, call 806-767-3706
